Which lens is right for me?

What are Hi-Index Lenses?

Most eyeglass wearers are nearsighted, which requires corrective lenses that are thin in the center but thicker at the edge of the lens. The stronger the prescription, the thicker the edges

If you are farsighted, you need "plus" (+) lenses, which are thicker in the center and thinner at the edge.

Regular plastic lenses for high amounts of nearsightedness or farsightedness can be quite thick and heavy. Fortunately, chemists have created a variety of new " High-index" plastic lens materials that bend light more efficiently.

High-index eyeglass lenses are the right choice if you want thinner, lighter lenses and eyeglasses that are as attractive and comfortable as possible.

Thinner, lighter high-index lenses are especially recommended if you have a strong eyeglass prescription for nearsightedness, farsightedness or astigmatism. But high-index lenses can make your eyeglasses noticeably slimmer, lighter and more attractive regardless of how strong your prescription is.

What Lens Should I Purchase with my RX?

Here is How you can determine which Hi-Index lens is good for you:

1. CR-39 or Plastic lenses are your basic 1.50 Index lenses. These are your most commonly found lenses. We here at Framed By Tee Tee use these lenses for clients who have VERY MILD RX. These lenses can be tinted to achieve sunglass color match ( RX included). This lens is compatible with majority of RX, but may be subjected to heaviness, thickness, and quality of vision. **Must confirm RX vial email for ALL prescription lenses.

Clients that have prescriptions that are under -2.00 or +2.00 should be more than comfortable with the purchase of regular CR-39 (plastic) lenses.

Clients with prescriptions that are Higher than -2.00 or +2.00 are recommended to invest in a Hi-Index lens

**We recommend adding an AR Coating for those clients who are interested in purchasing these lenses as daily corrective vision. This enhances the quality and clarity of vision to improve your Framed By Tee Tee vision experience. **Applicable for tinted sunglasses only AFTER tint is completed. Refer to AR Coatings to read about our amazing Crizal lenses.

2. We recommend Polycarbonate lenses if your frame has  rimless features. If you choose a frame that has your lenses exposed (given the confirmation of your prescription) THIS is YOUR lens. Polycarbonate lenses are impact resistant lenses. Commonly used in sport goggles, polycarbonate material its of a (mid index) thinner material. **This lens is NOT applicable for sunglass tinting.   If You are looking to match a sunglass tint, please refer to our CR-39 lens options and email us for further information.

3. We Recommend Hi Index 1.67 lenses to clients who's RX is above 2.50 (-/+) and below 4.50 (-/+). This lens is a thinner, lighter lens that improves the overall optical quality.

**We also recommend adding AR Coating to this lens to have a complete polished look and enhance the vision quality during your Framed By Tee Tee experience.
